Egypt, Israel, and EU ink bargain for sending out gas to Europe

Egypt, Israel, and the EU, on Wednesday, marked a reminder of understanding in Cairo to send out Israeli gas to Europe, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Israeli Energy Minister, Karine Elharrar, shared a video on her Twitter record of the marking of the three-dimensional arrangement.

“Today, Egypt and Israel together promised to impart our flammable gas to Europe and to assist with the energy emergency,” Elharrar said, following the marking function.

European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, invited the marking of the arrangement.

“I heartily welcome the mark of this memorable arrangement between Israel, Egypt, and the European Union,” she said.

On Tuesday, the Israeli i24 news channel revealed that Elharrar will meet with Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and other senior authorities, including Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Tarek El-Molla, to sign an arrangement for moving gas from Israel to Egypt by means of existing pipelines and afterward melting it in Egypt prior to trading it to Europe.

“I’m appreciative that Israel will build its stock of energy to the EU,” von der Leyen said on Twitter.

Following Russia’s send-off of its conflict with Ukraine, the EU has tried to diminish its reliance on energy supplies from Moscow and has looked for energy managing different nations, including Israel and Egypt.
