The ongoing feud between Iran and Israel has once again come to a head after Israel launched airstrikes targeting military sites in Iran. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei responded promptly, stating that Iran would employ “all available tools” to counter Israel’s aggression. This pronouncement has underscored the heightened risks associated with the conflict between these two nations.

The attacks, conducted by scores of Israeli jets, targeted multiple locations across Iran, including missile factories. This aggressive move by Israel has stirred considerable reaction within Iran’s government, with Ayatollah Ali Khamenei emphasizing that Iran should visibly project its power to Israel. Meanwhile, Iran’s initial efforts to downplay the attack have not quelled the concerns of the international community, which fears a looming escalation.

Complicating matters further, Hezbollah and Hamas, backed by Iran, are already deeply involved in conflicts with Israel, with Hezbollah active in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. U.S. President Joe Biden’s call for restraint highlights the danger of an all-out war. However, as the cycle of retribution between Iran and Israel persists, finding a diplomatic solution becomes an increasingly difficult prospect.
