Lebanon: Maronite Patriarch calls for Syria evacuees to get back
Lebanon’s Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rai has called for returning Syrian evacuees to their nation, saying they “can’t remain to the detriment of Lebanon”.
In a TV interview, Al-Rai said: “The principal war was forced on you [Syrian refugees], however on the off chance that you don’t get back to your homes, you are forcing on yourselves the subsequent conflict, and you can’t remain to the detriment of Lebanon.”
Al-Rai approached Lebanese authorities to haggle with their Syrian partners, including system President Bashar Al-Assad, to return those whom the system will reclaim.
“The Pope believed the Syrians should remain in Lebanon, however, I submitted to him a definite monetary and social report on their effect on Lebanon and the adjustment of its highlights,” Al-Rai added.
Lebanon has around 1.5 million Syrian displaced people who have escaped a merciless, decade-old struggle in their nation of origin.
