Priest: Turkey consents to deliver ‘decent amount’ of Tigris, Euphrates waters to Iraq

The Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, said yesterday that Turkey has endorsed an update of comprehension (MoU) that powers Ankara to deliver a decent amount of Tigris and Euphrates waters to Iraq.

The Iraqi pastor said in an explanation that the Turkish unique emissary has affirmed that there are concurrences not too far off and memoranda of understanding will be endorsed soon following parliament’s endorsement.

Iraqi authorities have met with the Turkish side in excess of multiple times to talk about the water issue, which Al-Hamdani said: “has not occurred for quite a long time”.

In December 2014, the two nations marked an MoU in the field of water that incorporates 12 articles, the most conspicuous of which is the accentuation on the significance of participation in the field of water assets the executives of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers and deciding the portion of water every nation is qualified for.
