Israel’s war on Gaza, intensified by the recent assassination of Yahya Sinwar, continues to devastate Palestinian civilians. This article examines how Netanyahu’s military strategies disproportionately affect Gaza’s population and why the killing of Sinwar is unlikely to bring relief.

Gaza Under Siege: Since the 2007 siege of Gaza, the region has suffered immense economic and humanitarian consequences. The conditions within Gaza have deteriorated to the point where it is often referred to as “the world’s largest open-air prison.” Over 42,000 people have been killed since Israel launched its war on Gaza in October last year, and the assassination of Sinwar will not ease the suffering of civilians.

Resistance Rooted in Occupation: The Palestinian resistance, including Hamas, arises from the long-standing grievances related to Israel’s occupation. Although Sinwar’s death weakens Hamas leadership, the underlying issues remain unchanged. Analysts argue that without addressing these root causes, Palestinian resistance will continue in one form or another.

Conclusion: The killing of Sinwar may be a military victory for Israel, but it does little to resolve the larger conflict. As long as Gaza remains under siege and Palestinians face dispossession, the region will continue to be embroiled in violence.
