The US charges Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps part with a plot to kill John Bolton
The US charged an Iranian public and individual from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday with plotting to kill previous American National Security Advisor John Bolton, Anadolu Agency detailed.
“Starting in October 2021, Shahram Poursafi, otherwise known as Mehdi Rezayi, 45, of Tehran, Iran, endeavored to orchestrate the homicide of previous National Security Advisor John Bolton, possible in counter for the January 2020 passing of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps — Qods Force (IRGC-QF) commandant Qasem Soleimani,” the Justice Department said in a proclamation.
It said Poursafi was chipping away at the benefit of the IRGC-QF and “endeavored to share people in the United States $300,000 to complete the homicide in Washington, DC or Maryland.”
Soleimani, the top of the IRGC-QF, was killed in January 2020 in a US drone strike in Baghdad, Iraq.
