The US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs Barbara Leaf said yesterday that the ongoing political circumstance in Iraq is unsettling for the US organization.

“Washington, National Security, the Secretary of State and Defense Ministry and others are intently following the Iraqi scene, and the most recent occasions that occurred last week demonstrate that the political scene has arrived at the edge of the pit,” Leaf was cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) as saying.

“The contention between the political elites must be settled through the exchange,” she added.

The US representative said that President Joe Biden and American pioneers are in touch with every single Iraqi group and are asking them to hold exchange, adding that Iraq and the United States are accomplices on the local and worldwide levels and that the two nations have common interests.

She adulated Iraq’s “positive job” in the exchange between the US and Iran.
